East Brookfield MA chamber

A partially buried small root cellar with an unusual vaulted fieldstone ceiling. It is near a road intersection and homes. James Gage of www.stonestructures.org writes, “I can legitimately state that the structure is a root cellar rather than chamber. If the entry into the structure was excavated, one would find a set of stone steps. Stone arch root cellars are well documented in Pennsylvania but are rather rare in New England.”
